Local club decorating areas of Sallins village

Wonderful displays in Sallins
The Sunshine Club in Sallins has been busy knitting and crocheting all year and the end results are now decorating the village centre for all to see.
The club initially thought it might look good to decorate a few trees along the canal but the volume of knitting received from their members allowed a bigger area to be decorated and the positive response from the community encouraged the Club to expand this year.
Sallins Tidy Towns have assisted this project from the start and this year the Pink Ladies Club in Castlefen created the beautiful Pink dinosaur tree on the main street.
The Sunshine Club have achieved what they set out to do, that is to brighten up the village of Sallins and to bring a smile to our residents and visitors alike.
Frances Walsh, Chairperson, Sunshine Club Sallins, said:
"The Sunshine Club previously known as Sallins Senior Citizens Club are the organisers of this initiative.
"The club reformed in December 2022 following a long break after Covid and now has a membership of over 50 from the Sallins area who meet every second Wednesday in the Community Centre.
"In addition the members have been on tours to various locations including Guinness Storehouse, Kilmainham Gaol, Glasnevin Cemetery and most recently Croke Park."
