Local link road in south Kildare still closed to traffic two months later

Kildare Co Council carrying out urgent repairs
A busy link road near Kilkea Castle in south Kildare continues to be closed to traffic for urgent repairs to a bridge - over two months later.
L8084, known locally as the Millbrook Road, from the R418 at Kilkea Bridge to Beaconstown junction, was closed on August 23 "until further notice" - according to Kildare County Council.
The route still remains off limits to the public with Local Access Only signs erected beside plastic bollards.
The road is used as a link to the R417 Athy-Carlow Road but drivers have been forced to take detours in the area for the past eight weeks.
Kildare County Council closed the road at 8am on Friday, August 23 "until further notice".
The Council said at the time that the closure was to "facilitate emergency repairs to the structure known as 'Nine-Eye Bridge'.
The local authority added that signposted diversions were in place and access for local residents would be accommodated.
