'Make the right choice': Kildare Garda stops driver on cocaine with no Tax, NCT, or insurance

Gardaí in Kildare are urging people to make the right choice this bank holiday weekend
Gardaí in Kildare are urging people to “make the right choice” this bank holiday weekend after catching a driver on cocaine.
The driver also had no tax, NCT, or insurance.
They stopped the driver as part of their August Bank Holiday Road Safety Enforcement Operation, according to a post on Facebook.
The driver failed a roadside drug test, prompting Gardaí to write “This is exactly why Gardaí are out in force this Bank Holiday weekend.”
“Driving while under the influence of drugs isn't just illegal – it puts innocent lives at risk. Add no insurance, no tax and no NCT, and it shows a complete disregard for the safety of everyone using our roads,” the post added.
“Make the right choice this Bank Holiday weekend. Don't become another statistic,” the post concludes.
A Garda Roads Policing Operation is taking place throughout the August bank holiday weekend, starting yesterday and lasting until Tuesday 4th August.
During the first day of the operation, there was no fatality as a result of traffic collisions on our roads.
The total number of fatalities on Irish roads to date this year is 108.
Throughout this weekend's Roads Policing Operation, Gardaí are conducting both statutory Mandatory Intoxicant Testing and regular, high-visibility policing checkpoints.
