Man claimed he had ‘IRA connections’ — Kildare court hears

ACCUSATION
A North Kildare man claimed that he has connections to the Irish Republican Army (IRA), according to gardaí who appeared before Judge Desmond Zaidan at Naas District Court.
On Thursday, February 15 last, gardaí alleged that Larry Shields, with an address listed as Saint Martin's, Curryhills Park in Prosperous, issued a death threat to a man and his daughter following an argument.
It was alleged that on April 28, 2021, at Saint Martin's, the 64-year-old accused told the alleged male injured party: "You're a dead man, I have IRA connections.
"I will put a bullet in your head."
Gardaí also alleged that he threatened to have the man's daughter shot dead.
Judge Zaidan accepted jurisdiction over the case and adjourned it to July 4 for hearing.
