Moorefield completed a perfect group stages while Clane also progressed to a preliminary quarter-final

Moorefield 2-12

Clane 0-10

Moorefield turned in another fine display to make it three wins from three and book a place in the SFC quater-final and a date with rivals Sarsfields in two weeks time.

Despite losing by eight points, making it two losses and just one win in the group, Clane still advance to the pre-quarter final and on this display can count themselves very fortunate indeed.

Moorefield were on top for a lot of this final fame of the four game programme at Manguard Park on Saturday and it was two of their experienced players who led the charge with Jason Philips having a huge influence as did Kevin Murnaghan while county man, Ryan Houlihan tormented the Clane defence time after time with his power and pace.

While Brian McLoughlin got the opening score of the game for Clane after one minute, it was Moorefield who gained the upper hand early on. Evan O'Brien converted a free after a foul on Ryan Moore and Ryan Houlihan edged The Moores in front on six, a lead they were never to lose .

Adam Sweeney had the first goal chance of the game going through the middle but his shot went right and wide. Harry O'Connor hit a lovely long-range effort to see Moorefield lead 0-3 to 0-1 with nine minutes on the clock.

Clane hit back with a long range point from Sam McCormack but a Mark Murray converted free had the lead back to two again.

Clane, with a fine forward move looked to be in but the ball was over-played and the Moorefield defence cleared their lines.

On seventeen minutes the decisive score of the opening half arrived with a brilliant 35m foot pass from Kevin Murnaghan found Jason Philips and the big full forward made no mistake burying the ball past Cian Burke in the Clane goal to make it 1-4 to 0-2.

It was Philips again who stretched the lead before Clane hit back with two fine points from Danny Egan and Hugh Prendergast after Cian Shanahan saw his long range shot being met by the no. 12 punching over.

A foul on Mark Dempsey saw Evan O'Brien convert and then just before the break Alan Fanning hit a beauty from an awkward angle to leave the half-time score reading Moorefield 1-6 Clane 0-5.

Half-time substitute, Sean O'Sullivan reduced the gap on the resumption but The Moores hit back with points from Evan O'Brien, Mark Murray after a fine run by Ryan Houlihan, while James Murray made it 1-9 to 0-6 after 40 minutes.

Sam McCormack gave his side some hope with two points inside a minute, the first a free, before a brilliant ball from Evan O'Brien put Adam Tyrrell, however his effort crashed off the cross bar.

The Moores were flying at this stage and Jason Philips with a fine ball had Adam Tyrrell heading for goals, however this time he was fouled, Evan O'Brien converted the free.

Brian McLoughlin converted a mark; Jason Philips added a point before Adam Tyrrell was on his way again, this time was pulled to the ground by Sean Callan, the Clane full back was fortunate to see the colour of the card being yellow, instead of black; O'Brien again converted to make it 1-12 to 0-9.

Sam McCormack converted second free and his fourth of the game before a long ball into the danger area was brilliantly caught by substitute Dan O'Callaghan who turned before blasting the ball past Cian Burke.
