Naas begin their Leinster Club SFC campaign on Sunday when they welcome Meath champions Summerhill to Manguard Park.

Naas have shown this season just how resilient a side they have become in recent times and no doubt with their three-in-a-row celebrations now on hold they will be extremely anxious to build on their exploits of both 2021 and 2022 when they went down to Kilmacud Crokes in the final two years ago and the quarter-final last season.

A win for Naas on Sunday would seen them meet the winners of the Emmet Og (Louth) and St Loman's of Westmeath in the semi-final.

First things first though and Summerhill, somewhat fortunate to have defeated Tullamore in that controversial first round clash; one feels that if Naas can bring their 'A' game to Hawkfield they should have enough in the tank to get this season's campaign off to a successful start.

LEINSTER INTERMEDIATE

Meanwhile Allenwood will line out in the AIB Leinster Club Intermediate quarter-final on Saturday, also in Manguard Park when they will take on St. Malachy's in a game due to throw-in at 2 pm.

The Westmeath side have the benefit of a preliminary game when they defeated Carlow champions Clonmore 2-9 to 1-8 so no doubt that game will stand to them.

It will certainly be interesting to see how Noel Mooney's side perform in this outing but having come through a tough campaign in Kildare it can be expected that will throw everything at their opponents in this quarter-final clash.

Leinster Club campaigns are all about getting over the first hurdle and then building on the momentum from that.

Very difficult to assess how Allenwood will perform on the day but they have dug themselves out of tough situations on more than one occasion in the Kildare Club intermediate championship, come through a very tough game against Castledermot in the final.

One feels if they can perform to their best they are in there with a big, big chance but it will take only their best to advance.

LEINSTER JUNIOR

Kildare Junior Football champions, Milltown, are also in action this weekend when they travel to take on Kilbride (Meath) in Ashbourne on Saturday, 2 pm throw-in.

Milltown have been going great guns and having defeated St Mary's of Wexford in the preliminary round, away, they are on the road again, as they bid to make it to the Leinster Club last four.

No doubt confidence is high in Darren O'Shea's camp and with no less than eight players getting on the score sheet against St Mary's they will be hoping that Colin O'Shea, Kevin Byrne, the youthful Ben Curran, the experienced Declan McKenna and the rest of this well balanced side, will have enough to see them through.
