New speed limit signs coming to Kildare

Limits on drivers in Kildare housing estates will be reduced
Kildare County Council has received a grant of €202,000 to be spent on putting up new speed limit signs.
The reclassification of local roads from a default speed limit of 80 km/h to 60 km/h was completed in 2024 with the removal of some special speed limits, which were revoked in early 2025.
The implementation of 30 km/h speed limits in housing estates which have been taken in charge by KCC, will be progressed in 2025.
These will be followed by urban speed limits, also of 30 km/h, later in the year.
