Protection order denied for Kildare woman with jealous ex-partner

A protection order was denied for a woman at Naas District Court on Thursday, April 13.

The woman alleged that her ex-partner was exhibiting jealous and controlling behaviour towards her.

She claimed that even though they separated three years ago, and that he is in a new relationship with another woman, he keeps on questioning her over 'a new man' in her life, and also keeps asking one of her close friends about her whereabouts.

After consideration, presiding Judge Deirdre Gearty said that the woman did not meet the requirement for a protection order, as the situation 'doesn’t seem to be an emergency (at present).'
