Teenage duo sent forward for trial over alleged involvement in Naas, County Kildare brawl

CASE UPDATE
Two teenage boys have had their Naas District Court case sent forward for trial.
The two boys, who appeared before Judge Desmond Zaidan on Thursday, June 27 last, were accompanied by some relatives.
The defendants have been accused of being involved in an assault incident which took place in Naas on Halloween Night of 2023.
The incident involved a number of youths who fought each other at Basin Street / Harbour View area at around 10.45pm on October 31 last.
Back in December, substitute Judge Philip O'Leary was told by gardaí that told that an assault broke out between two groups of teenagers: two of the teens were cut with a knife, while another sustained knife injuries to their head and arm, and one more teen sustained knife injuries to their hand and wrist.
On the latest date, it was heard that out of the five alleged injured parties, four were hospitalised for their alleged injuries.
A garda who was sworn in served a book of evidence on the two defendants.
Once this was done, Judge Zaidan sent the case involving the two boys forward for trial to the present sittings of Naas Circuit Criminal Court.
Their defending solicitor noted to the judge that one of the boys is due to have a High Court bail application heard soon.
SEPARATE INCIDENT
One of the teenagers also faces accusations relating to a separate incident.
For this incident, he has been charged with two counts of criminal damage and one count of possession of a weapon.
Judge Zaidan adjourned this case to a later date, to allow time for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
He remanded the defendant in detention until this case resumes.
