Touching new drama
Writer and performer Anthony Kinahan returns back to the Riverbank stage with Unguarded on Thursday, February 15 at 8pm.
Kinahan plays Stephen, a widower consumed with grief, who tries to juggle work and raising his son Tadgh.
Following the death of his partner Conor, his former in-laws begin a campaign to get custody of Tadgh who was born via surrogacy, and to whom Stephen is only regarded as a guardian.
Unguarded is a touching, and often comedic, new drama which uses imaginative physicality, vocal versatility and song, to highlight the vulnerable position many LGBTQ+ and non-LGBTQ+ families find themselves in due to the lack of regulation of Surrogacy in Ireland.
Directed by Anna Simpson (Quintessence Theatre) and developed under the Droichead Arts Centre Artist in Association in 2021 (with the support of the Arts Council of Ireland), this production is in association with Droichead and An Táin Arts Centre, Dundalk.
Unguarded will be performed at Riverbank Arts Centre on Thursday February 15 at 8pm. Tickets are priced €18 (full price) / €16 (concession) and can be booked through the Box Office, either in person or by telephone on 045 448327 Monday to Friday 9.30am-5pm (closed for lunch 2-2.30) and Saturday 10am-1pm.
