The driver was stopped as part of a National Day of Action targeting uninsured drivers

As part of a National Day of Action targeting uninsured drivers across County Kildare, Naas Roads Policing Unit stopped a vehicle after members became suspicious.

The driver decided to introduce himself but gave a false identity.

A quick check on the Garda Mobility App revealed the driver's real identity, and it transpired they were serving a two-year driving disqualification.

The driver was arrested, charged before the courts, and the vehicle was loaded onto a recovery truck.

A garda spokesperson said of the offence: “Moral of the story? Changing your name doesn't change what's on the system. No insurance. No licence. A false name is no winning hat-trick.”
