UPDATE: Kildare man has case sent forward for trial

ACCUSED

An 18-year-old man who appeared in Naas District Court on Thursday, March 9, has had a case against him sent forward for trial.

The court was told that back in November, Thomas, McCann, with an address listed as Apartment 1, Block 8, The Vale, College Farm in Newbridge, was accused of hiding a suspected drugs haul in his home, in addition to knives and a baseball bat.

Then, the following month, Mr McCann was allegedly engaged in an argument with another person at College Farm on August 16 last.

It was alleged that he had punched the other person in the chest, and that Mr McCann had allegedly threatened to burn down their home.

The defendant also stood accused of kicking the other person's vehicle twice, causing damage to it.

On the latest court date, Mr McCann also faced accusations of driving with no licence or insurance at College Farm on July 12 last, and for a public disorder offence and obstruction offence at College Farm on November 21 last.

After a book of evidence was served on Mr McCann, Judge Desmond Zaidan sent the alleged criminal damage, threats and assault case forward for trial at the present sittings on Naas Circuit Criminal Court, which commenced on January 11 last.

He remanded the Newbridge resident on continuing bail until this date. Directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions for the alleged public disorder, obstruction and driving offences, are due on September 7, while a certificate of analysis is due for the suspected drugs cache case.
