Winner of big race in Ascot was bred in Kildare

The winner of the Queen Mary Stakes at Ascot was bred in Rathangan.

Leovanni was ridden by James Doyle and trained by Karl Burke Racing.

But the big Irish connection was that the filly was bred by Kilmoney Cottage Stud.

Ciara and Michael Carty of Kilmoney Cottage Stud watched the big win from their Rathangan base.

Ciara told Thoroughbred Daily News: "It's amazing. We're bouncing around the yard here - we should probably be over there!"
