Woman tells court she was 'punched by her husband'

A woman claimed at Naas District Court that she had been punched by her husband.
The woman was seeking protection under family law legislation and alleged he held her against the fridge and shouted at her and moved his fist towards her face.
She alleged he told her “if I want to hit you I can, I don’t care about court.”
The woman said she sustained bruising to her arms.
She has a safety order which she said he is breaching and it is not keeping her safe.
Her husband was not present in court.
Judge Desmond Zaidan granted her an interim barring order and adjourned the case.
The court was also told that the defendant is being put in touch with Teach Tearmainn, which provides free and confidential support services to women and children in Kildare and west Wicklow, who have experienced domestic violence and abuse.
