The TFI local link service connects communities across North Kildare with Naas town centre.

Age Friendly Kildare is encouraging older residents across North Kildare to make use of a valuable door to door transport service connecting local communities with Naas town centre.

Operated by TFI local link, the pre-booked service runs every Wednesday morning from Rathangan, Robertstown, Coill Dubh, Prosperous and Caragh/Donore, providing transport for people who wish to access services and amenities in Naas.

The semi flexible service is designed to help residents attend medical appointments, go shopping, visit the bank or library or get a coffee.

The initiative supports the goals of the Kildare Age Friendly Programme, which works to make the county a better place to grow older by helping older people remain active, independent and connected with their communities.

However, organisers have warned that passenger numbers are currently very low and that the service could be at risk if more people do not begin to use it.

Residents are being encouraged to take advantage of the transport option, particularly those who may not have access to a car or who prefer not to drive.

Community support is essential for the service to ensure it can continue operating and serving local people.

Passengers must pre-book their journey by calling 045 980 281 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. Those booking are asked to have their Eircode available so staff can confirm whether they are located within the collection area along the route.

Age Friendly Kildare is urging older residents to make use of the service, whether for essential appointments or to enjoy a day out in Naas browsing the shops or meeting friends for a coffee.
