Defence Forces soldier Ryan Moore is currently taking part in a walk from Newbridge to Cong, Co Mayo to raise money for KARE and the Alzheimer's Society of Ireland.

Ryan said: "These organisations are close to my own family as my cousin Chloe Flynn has started the adult programme in KARE  last week and also my grandfather Lauri Murray - former caretaker of Cill Mhuire Church - passed away last year and suffered with dementia in the last few years of his life.

The walk is 200km in distance and should be completed tomorrow.

Ryan added: "I will be doing the most part of it alone, with some family and friends joining me for the last stretch.

"I will also be pushing Chloe in her chair for the last stretch. I would be very grateful of any donations and they will make a huge difference to these organisations as every little helps."

Ryan has set up a GoFundMe page for people to donate: https://www.gofundme.com/4f46fgg
