Kildare County Council announced that a 30km per hour speed limit in residential estates will be implemented  'on a phased basis and subject to funding.'

Jake's Law was implemented after a campaign by the parents of a young boy, Jake Brennan, who died after being hit by a car outside his home in a Co Kilkenny housing estate, in 2014, at the age of six.

Following a campaign, earlier this year Jake's Law was passed by the Dáil.

Cllr Mark Wall  asked for the  council  to confirm the up to date position with the roll out of Jake's Law within the Athy Municipal District and confirming the estates that will be included.

A Kildare County Council spokesperson said: " The installation of signage associated with Jake's Law will be dealt with as part of the County Wide Speed Limit Review. It is proposed to install signage in all housing estates, in charge, on a phased basis and subject to funding."
