A Bollywood movie is being shot tomorrow in the Council Chamber of Kildare County Council.

The unusual development was announced to councillors at today's Kildare Council by County Arts Officer Lucina Russell.

Ms Russell said an 'interrogation scene' would be filmed in the Chamber and that Kildare County Council was delighted at the news and that every support would be given to the production.

The Bollywood movie will star well-known Indian actor Shekhar Kapur (69) who has directed Oscar-winning movies on Queen Elizabeth starring Hollywood star Cate Blanchette.

Lucina told KildareNow: "The crew will be filming an interrogation scene in the Council Chamber as part of the movie.

"Producers visited the Chamber a few weeks ago to view the room and obviously they saw what they needed for the scene in the film.

"It's is fantastic for Co Kildare because Kildare County Council is committed to supporting all suitable arts projects such as this."

The filming is taking place tomorrow afternoon and the movie set is expected to be closed to the public.

Kapur is the latest celebrity to be linked with Co Kildare as Naomi Campbell was unveiled as the new face of Newbridge Silverware earlier this month.
