BREAKING: Kildare and Naas gets a new councillor

The Green Party’s Bob Quinn became the newest Kildare councillor today.
The Naas-based financial consultant will sit on both Kildare County Council as well as Naas Municipal District.
Mr Quinn, who was praised by fellow councillors for his work with a number of local organisations in a voluntary capacity, replaces Cllr Colm Kenny.
Cllr Kenny, also from Naas, stood down as the party councillor in Naas citing work pressures alongside his councillor’s role.
Cllr Kenny’s work was praised by senior GP councillor Peter Hamilton, who said he brought a passion to local politics.
He also said Cllr Quinn’s background - from a family of nine in the West of Ireland - would serve him well as counsellor “in the modern family that is the NMD.”
Cllr Quinn has been living in Naas for 15 years and has been in business locally for 12 years. And he was nominated for the role by his party in line with normal procedure when a councillor departs, at a special KCC meeting this afternoon.
“It’s a privilege to be here today and thanks for the warm welcome,” said Cllr Quinn, who was accompanied by his wife and three children.
