BREAKING KILDARE NEWS: Planning application lodged for Naas Shopping Centre site

A planning application has been lodged for part of the Naas Shopping Centre site.
The much delayed project has been derelict for nearly 15 years now.
The proposal is to demolish the “temporary” access to the Bank of Ireland, at South Main Street, including the ramp and rail there - as well as the removal of the ATM machine.
Part of the building will be modified to create a new opening to a new plaza which will include security gates.
A new pub layout will be created for The Forge Inn, which has been closed for well over a decade, over four floors including the basement. Vacant unit at the back of the pub will become retail space.
Two new ATM machines will be provided on the south facade of the Bank of Ireland building and it will have new entrance doors and three signs.
The planning application has been made by Central Tower, which is associated with the Roche Group.
The Roche Group, led by businessman Ger Roche, owns the Vista medical centre on the Ballymore Road in the town as well as the shopping centre.
It’s understood that talks have been taking place between the developer and Kildare County Council.
These followed an initial application by the developed which ran aground because part of both the Bank of Ireland and the Forge Inn premises are protected structures - and are referred to as such in the official planning application document.
