Kildare Co Council has been requested to provide a site for a dog park and a skate park for the Maynooth area.

Cllr Tim Durkan said the facilities should be allocated to the 91 metre non-development zone of the M4 motorway for local residents.

The politician will raise the issue at the next meeting of Maynooth Municipal District in Naas on Friday week.

Cllr Durkan is also calling on the Council to provide an update on the upgrading of the M4 interchange at Maynooth, including the progress which has been made on providing a second motorway interchange west of the current one?

He also wants information on the provision of extra car parking spaces at Maynooth train station?

Also being raised is the potential upgrading of the Moneycooley Road, Maynooth  to accommodate the foreseeable increase in traffic volume, given the granting of planning permission for a second entrance/exit for Maynooth Business Campus.
