There are concerns about a delay in progressing plans for a new Co Kildare secondary school to tender stage.

Kildare North Labour Representative Emmet Stagg was in further contact with the Minister for Education and Skills, Richard Bruton,  about the continuing delay in inviting tenders for the new St. Joseph's National School in Kilcock.

The Minister advised Mr. Stagg that the tender Documents and stage 2b Report were submitted to the Department for review, and that the Department found a number of omissions in the report. The original documents were returned to the design team for updating and have recently been received in the Department and a further review is underway.

The New School stated Mr. Stagg will comprise 16 classrooms, five  Special Education tuition rooms, a multi-purpose room, a library resource room, a general purpose hall and a special needs unit with two base classrooms. Planning permission for the New School was granted by Kildare Co. Council on 23rd October 2015.

In conclusion Kildare North Labour Representative Emmet Stagg stated that he would continue to pressurise the Minister to progress the project to Tender Stage.
