Kildare County Council has pledged to upgrade its playground in Celbridge.

The request came from Cllr Lumi Panaite Fahey who cited safety concerns, at a Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District committee meeting.

Kildare County Council official Simon Wallace said upgrading work including surfacing and the repair of equipment will be carried out “over the next few months.”

At a previous KCC meeting, Cllr Fahey said there are potholes in the single Celbridge playground along with holes and a child has been injured.

“It’s more of a hazard than a pleasure,” said Cllr Claire O’Rourke while  Cllr Rupert Heather said each area of the county should have a “basic level of amenities.”

Cllr David Trost said the Celbridge amenity is in a very poor condition.

“We’re really letting down the people of Celbridge," he said.
