Destruction order given for 'terrorising XL Bully dog' owned by Kildare woman

Public are in danger, garda tells Kildare court
A destruction order was granted in respect of an XL Bully dog owned by a Carbury resident.
The court heard that the dog is owned by a woman who is already disqualified from keeping a dog for five years.
Garda Diarmuid Daly told Naas District Court that “people are running for cover indoors” at a housing estate in Carbury. He claimed the dog is terrorising the area.
Gda Daly took the case under the Control of Dogs Act (1986).
He told Judge Desmond Zaidan he believes the public are in danger because of the dog and he said he wanted it to be destroyed.
Judge Zaidan said he would grant an order meaning that the state would forfeit the animal but he said the animal should only be destroyed if there is no other option.
He said it should not be put down except as a last resort and every other realistic option should be explored before that.
He said there is a possibility that the animal would be better controlled by a different owner.
