Diane O'Hora reacts to Kildare ladies' fourth win in four league games

Kildare ladies have now won 18 games in-a-row since their last loss on February 19, 2023
“It certainly was tough. It’s tough on the players, Laoise Lenehan got a little bit of an injury there at the start and it's our sixth time on astro this week, so there is a lot of fatigue. We wanted to freshen things up throughout, but also didn’t want to cause any instability in the team,” the words of Diane O'Hora, pictured, following her Kildare side's narrow win over Tipperary.
In what was Kildare's toughest challenge to date in Division 2, O'Hora praised both sides for their role in this tense battle.
She said, “Huge credit to Tipperary, they were brilliant and their game plan is very clear in how they defend. They defended like a brick wall and that is very hard to break down. But huge credit to our players today for the composure that they had, their attitude and that will to win in terms of what they put in for each other, the work-rate was insane.”
The aforementioned loss of vice-captain Laoise Lenehan after just five minutes was a hammer blow to Kildare, but their defence held strong despite the loss of a central figure.
O'Hora said, “Losing Laoise is going to disrupt you a lot. She is a huge personality, as well as talent. She is probably one of the best full-backs in the country, if not the best, I firmly believe that. But then you look at Mia (Doherty), Aoife (Clifford), Fiona (Troute) and every single one of them were coming back in to fill that space when needed. The girls did brilliantly today.”
