Domestic violence case heard in Kildare court will likely be moved to special sittings
CONTESTED
A contested domestic violence case was adjourned at Naas District Court on Thursday, September 21, and will likely be heard at a special sitting.
It was alleged during the in-camera (in private) court session that the male defendant stood accused of one count of assault and two breaches of a domestic violence order breaches against his ex-partner, on three separate dates.
Barrister Mark Gibbons told Judge Desmond Zaidan that his client denies all the allegations made against him.
When it was heard that the case would take some time, Judge Zaidan told the alleged injured party that he would adjourn the case to a special sitting of Naas District Court on October 9.
He also said: "On that date, another judge will be coming down to assist me.
"They will likely only have to deal with around 20 cases; I have to deal with as many as 300 or 400."
The judge said that if this date is not reached, then the case would go to a date in January of next year.
Judge Zaidan ajourned the case and granted bail for the defendant until the case resumes.
