Donation to Pieta House from Walk for Moggie fundraiser could save another life.

The final tally of a recent fundraiser held in memory of the late Moggie Murray has been confirmed at €11, 261.
“That’s a staggering amount and showed the true generosity of the people of Ballymore Eustace, Blessington and beyond” said a spokesperson from the Walk for Moggie Fundraising Committee.
“It also confirmed the affection the late Moggie was held, and the shock the community felt at the loss of another young man to suicide”. The committee which incorporated Elizabeth Deegan, Pauline Lynham, Mary Horan, Tom O’Rourke, Sheila Byrne, Nicola Piggott, Catherine Garvey, Anne Murphy Daly and Rose Barrett O’Donoghue wish to thank all who supported the event, donated prizes or auction items (full list printed on Walk for Moggie and Ballymore Eustace News on Facebook).
“After we contributed to unexpected expenses incurred by the family on Moggie’s sudden death, a balance of €4,511 remains which will be donated to Pieta House. If that money can save even one life or offer a life-line to others experiencing self- harm, it will be well spent. The account established for Walk for Moggie will then be closed”.
Any other expenses incurred in the promotion of the event i.e. banner, printing, candles, etc. were purchased by committee members themselves. Thanks also to management at Punchestown Racecourse and to local media for promoting the event; to Tina and staff of Martika who raised €2,000 from a salon event ‘Work with Moggie’ and donated the funds to Walk for Moggie.
“To see families weave their way around the racecourse on October 8, united in memory of Moggie, supporting his family and our fundraiser was truly touching. To all who supported, we say a hearty thank you” - The Walk for Moggie Fundraising Committee.
