GAA club in Kildare wants to build €1m gym

The application was submitted to Kildare Co Council
A €1 million gym development has been proposed for Conneff Park on Prosperous Road in Clane, Co. Kildare, as part of plans by Clane GAA Club to enhance its sports facilities.
The planning application seeks permission for the construction of a new detached sports gym building with a floor area of 393.47 square metres on the club’s grounds. The project also includes the provision of a new footpath with bollard lighting, a pedestrian entrance point with a gate, and all associated ancillary site works.
The proposed development, which has an estimated value of €1 million, is listed as a private sports and leisure project.
The application was submitted on June 26, 2026, and is currently at the plans applied stage.
The project team includes Brian Connolly Associates, which is acting as agent for the development. Other consultants involved include Uisce Éireann, Kellihers Electrical and Philips Lighting.
The proposed gym facility is expected to provide additional training space for club members and support the continued growth of sporting activity in the Clane area.
Clane GAA Club, located at Conneff Park, has long played a central role in the local community, providing sporting opportunities for players of all ages across the area.
The new facility would represent a significant investment in the club’s future infrastructure.
