A local Garda has praised the 'very good response' of local fire service members who attended a fire and managed to bring it under control in little over 30 minutes.

A fire broke out at the Buggy Man yard at around 7.40am on Thursday morning, but units from the Naas Fire Service responded almost instantaneously to battle the blaze.

The Buggy Man yard is located just off the N7 Northbound and the smoke may have negatively affected traffic heading towards Dublin this morning if it was not brought under control.

Large plumes of black smoke were visible from Naas this morning.

Units from the Kildare Fire Service and Naas Gardaí attended the scene, and a Garda told KildareNow that the fire had been brought under control by 8.15am.

KildareNow understands that initial indications suggest that the fire was caused by an electrical fault.

Traffic travelling past the scene remained relatively free-flowing throughout the morning and there are no major delays to report of on the N7 presently.

The Buggy Man company import and distribute golf carts all over Ireland.
