Gardaí 'will not tolerate any racist remarks' and 'will block culprits'

GARDAÍ have been flooded with ‘derogatory remarks’ under a recent social media post.

Gardaí posted to the popular social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter recognising The Kairali Indian community in Tipperary.

The post read: “The Kairali Indian community who have made Nenagh, Co Tipperary their home greatly contribute to the whole area, and it was our pleasure to welcome them to their local garda station ahead of the Christmas.”

Many people have taken to commenting under the post with many ‘racist remarks’.

One user commented: “Any welcome for local Irish people?”

Although there is a trail of negative comments there are positive ones also.

Cllr Elisa O'Donovan said: “This is so lovely, well done Nenagh gardaí.”

Gardaí have commented under the post explaining they will not tolerate any of the remarks.

“We accept criticism of the organisation and our work, however, we do not tolerate derogatory or racist remarks directed at any individual or group. We will block users who continue to engage on our platform in this tone.”
