Gritters set to hit Kildare roads this evening as KCC give latest update on weather crisis

Kildare County Council have issued their latest update on the ongoing weather crisis in the county.
The council's Crisis Management Team incorporating the Severe Weather Assessment Team met once again this morning to discuss and analyse the impact of the severe weather today.
They have stated that there are currently 18 Kildare County Council trucks, 30 tractor powered ploughs, a number of JCB’s and other machines attempting to clear the regional roads and other strategic routes throughout Kildare since first light this morning.
Salting is expected to commence on many roads at 6.30pm, with the council hitting the roads just before the temperatures drop to below freezing once again tonight.
Defence Forces staff in conjunction with Kildare County Council staff are attempting to clear footpaths and entrances leading to critical services such as the hospitals.
Where possible the Fire Service and Civil Defence are attempting to assist An Garda Siochana, the Health Services and other care services to deal with emergency situations.
Water Services continue to monitor the water infrastructure in Kildare. Currently there is a water outage in the Celbridge area. Further details are posted on Irish Water’s website.
