The Judge lashed the Justice system for being a 'mess' after a Kildare town man was arrested while on temporary release.

At Naas District court today, Shane Kelly, aged 23, of 3524 Bishoplands, Kildare, appeared, in relation to charges of possessing a Philips Screwdriver and black gloves, at Market Square, Kildare, on June 13, 2o15.

He had been released from prison on April 23, 2015, after being sentenced to 10 months in prison.

Defence Solicitor, Seamus Boyle said: "He has accepted that what he did was stupid."

Judge Desmond Zaidan said he lays the blame on the system that enables repeat offenders to commit offences, while on temporary release.

Mr Boyle said that Kelly  has not had the benefit  of the probation act before.

Judge Zaidan said: "The whole thing is just one mess, there was no objections to him getting station bail."

Mr Boyle said that his mother, who appeared in court, had concerns for her 'vulnerable' son.

Judge Zaidan warned Kelly that if he does not take the chance of probation, he will be sent to prison.

Kelly was ordered to continue a curfew from 9a.m. to 9p.m and sign on daily at Kildare Garda Station.

He was remanded on continuing bail, to appear in Naas District Court on May 16th.
