Junction change needed at well known Kildare landmark because of accidents

Driver vision must be improved at Kildare location

Work should be done to improve the layout of the junction at a well known west Kildare landmark.

Independent councillor Pádraig McEvoy wants Kildare County Council to find the resources needed to redefine the junction at Blackwood Crossroads near Dag Weld's pub (the R409-R403 between Prosperous and Allenwood).

Cllr McEvoy said this is needed “for improved vehicle positions and sightlines for approaching traffic.”

KCC say it is progressing a scheme to “tighten the south side of this junction and remove the existing poles to improve sightlines” there.

A Clane-Maynooth Municipal District meeting was also told that quotation has been accepted from Eir for the diversion works and a design package is being prepared.
