KCC announces return of the Dance & Movement Summer School

Event takes place in St Patrick's College, Maynooth from July 23 to July 25
Kildare County Council’s Arts Department has announced the return of the Dance & Movement Summer School, which will take place in St Patrick’s College, Maynooth from Wednesday July 23 to Friday July 25.
For over two decades, Kildare County Council Arts Service has established itself as an agency for dance development in Ireland through Dance Artist Residencies, certified training and professional development and the Kildare Dance Summer School.
Led by the Arts Service with support from the Arts Council and the HSE, the Dance Summer School offers a wide-ranging programme that allows participants to immerse themselves in a range of approaches and methodologies to dance.
No previous experience is required; just an openness to move and have fun.
Kildare’s Dance Summer School 2025 offers a three-day programme of workshops for all abilities. The programme features both familiar and new voices to the schedule:
Wednesday July 23, 10am – 4pm: Morning and afternoon movement workshops for everyone to dance, move and express themselves, with Selma Daniel and Yasmin Mello of The SAY Collective, accompanied by live music from André Antunes.
Thursday July 24, 10am – 4pm: Inclusive workshops for all abilities with Elaine Thomas and Rosie Leak, who bring depth, care, and embodied intelligence to their work.
Friday July 25, 10am – 3.30pm: Colm Gallagher, a longstanding contributor to the Summer School, returns to co-facilitate with Ebony Rose Dark—an electrifying cabaret and performance artist whose work spans disability justice, queerness, and inclusive movement. These sessions will consider the power of the individual in the collective.
Participation in the Dance Summer School is free but advance booking is required. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
