KCC grant permission to British company to turn former Tesco store into DIY retail outlet and cafe

Kildare County Council have granted planning permission to a group looking to turn part of a Tesco store in Maynooth into a new cafe.
The application was lodged by CDS(Superstores International) Limited for permission to change the use of the store from a supermarket to one that can cater for the display and sale of primarily comparison goods and an ancillary in-store café.
CDS Limited run a chain of stores called The Range, a retailer that sells furniture, garden products, decor items, beddings, curtains, blinds, do-it-yourself products, kitchen items, utility products, bathroom products, lighting solutions, rugs, arts and crafts items, leisure products, clothing, and pet products. It would be the first of its kind in Kildare.
The application includes all advertising signage associated with the proposed use and all associated site development works.
The application was lodged on March 6 and the council returned with their decision recently. The store is located at Carton Retail Park on the Dublin Road.
