Kildare County Council asked to buy building so it can be used by community

Kildare County Council has been asked to buy a building so that it can be used by a local community.
It’s located at St John’s Grove in Johnstown and local councillor Fintan Brett said that there is no community facility in the village.
He said the building was provided by a developer but local people won't hire it because they believe that it should be theirs to use on a permanent basis.
He said residents “could badly do with it” adding that a hall previously used by scouts is not a bowling venue and the scouts need an alternative venue.
KCC official Eoghan Ryan said the idea of buying it will be considered along with some other similar proposals elsewhere in County Kildare.
He agreed that it was “implied” that it would be given over to the community “but it didn’t happen.”
