KILDARE COURT: Boy is prosecuted for raping a younger boy

A teenage boy is being prosecuted for allegedly raping another boy.

He appeared before Naas District Court accompanied by his father and the court was told he faces eight allegations.

Among the allegations is that he penetrated the child’s anus with his penis and the charges related to a date or dates between June 2021 and early November 2022.

The injured party is about half the defendant’s age and both are children.

Detective Garda Mandy Cagney said there was no objection to bail.

Judge Desmond Zaidan imposed reporting restrictions effectively forbidding the publication of names, address or ages, relating to either party.

He granted a disclosure order meaning the prosecution is obliged to provide the defence with evidence relating to the case.

He adjourned the matter.
