Kildare dancers' All-Ireland success
A group of Irish dancers from Monasterevin World tasted success at the Irish Dance Association All Ireland Championships 2023 in Donegal.
They came home from the championships with many first placings in solo competitions, podium finishes and All Ireland titles.
Dance schools travelled from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Isle of Man, Hong Kong, USA and Switzerland.
“There is nothing we can say that would do these kids justice and no medal or trophy in the world could ever buy the comradeship with the group and among other schools,” said teacher Michelle Morrissey.
The winners were Heidi Meredith U7 primary champion; Orlaith Cullen U25 primary champion; Alessa Carthy U11 intermediate champion; Rosie Kennedy U10 open champion;
Holly Melia U13 open champion; Katie Byrne U14 open champion and U15 modern set champion.
The dancers also performed outside the Gaiety Theatre at the Riverdanceathon raising €2960 for AsIAm, the national autism charity. They’ve also been selected for a televised tv competition which will be aired later this year.
