Sub Station Officer Tarlach Kelly is leaving Kildare Fire Service to begin a new role as Firefighter with Limerick Fire & Rescue.

Tarlach started with Kildare Fire Service in 2008 at the age of 28.

Many around the town of Maynooth will know him for his time spent as a gym instructor in the Glenroyal Hotel.

On Tuesday’s drill night, he was joined by his crew of Maynooth, and by the crew from Leixlip with whom work together on a regular basis.

Also present were senior officers SACFO Niall O’Riordan and CFO Celina Barrett, who presented Tarlach with a statuette for his service and also flowers to his fiancée Sonya.

Kildare Fire Service said in a statement: "Tarlach progressed through his years within the brigade as driver before finally resting on the position of Sub-Officer.

"Always willing to help out where possible, Tarlach mentions that his roles within Kildare Fire Service made him who he is today.

"He thrives on being able to help his local community where possible, and to aid them in their times of need.

"Outside of the Fire Service, Tarlach also practised as an EMT, to further his qualifications in medical assistance.

"If there was a charitable opportunity to be carried out, you can guarantee Tarlach was behind it and trying to do whatever he could to help out.

"He will be missed throughout the county from all his colleagues, both old and new.

"All in Kildare would like to wish Tarlach the very best in his new role.

"We are confident that you will bring a lot of skill, expertise and mocha making abilities to your new watch! Limerick, you have a great firefighter coming your way."
