Kildare gardaí should be asked to tackle speeding as motorists seek to avoid the dual carriageway

Call for a speed survey to be done
The gardaí should be asked to tackle speeding motorists on a Kildare route.
A call for “a covert speed survey in conjunction with the gardaí” was made by Cllr Anne Breen, at a Naas Municipal District committee meeting.
She said it’s needed to “establish what traffic calming measures are needed to ensure the safety of local residents.”
She complained about speeding on the Kill to Kilteel link road, through Blackhill between the Kill and Castlewarden interchanges.
“This road which was introduced as a local link road has now become the preferred route for those motorists wishing to avoid congestion on the N7, There is continuous speeding on it,” she said
According to Kildare County Council this section of road is approximately 600 metres long and is located in a 50 kph zone with 50 kph signs installed at both ends of the zone.
KCC also said any concern or evidence about speeding should be reported to the gardaí,” who are responsible for enforcing speed limits (and the) rules of the road.”
