KILDARE: "I've seen people knocked down" - call for more 'zebra' crossings'

More zebra crossings are needed in Naas.
According to Cllr Bill Clear these are needed at Dublin Road, Sallins Road, Poplar Square, opposite Dunnes Stores and at Fairgreen.
At a Naas Municipal District meeting he asked if there was any plan to a pilot scheme to trail zebra crossings “whereby a zebra crossing is installed without the need for flashing beacon lights.”
But Kildare County Council has said it will will await the findings of the National Transport
Authority zebra pilot scheme before the implementation of these types of crossings. Until we receive updated guidance from the NTA the current standards and regulations in terms of pedestrian facilities must be implemented.
He said he was disappointed that KCC is not being more proactive.
“I’ve seen people being knocked down,” he said.
