Kildare Judge criticises lack of evidence disclosed by gardaí

COMMENTS
A Naas District Court Judge was critical of the lack of evidence disclosed by gardaí.
Judge Desmond Zaidan made the comments on Thursday, May 25 last, across three in-camera (in private) court cases, one of which related to the alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl.
When he was told that the prosecuting garda had not yet handed over evidence in relation to the case to the defence, Judge Zaidan voiced his frustration.
He marked the case for entry against the defendant and adjourned it to June 8.
The judge also remanded the accused on continuing bail until this date.
In the next case, it was heard that the prosecuting garda also had not yet disclosed evidence to the defence. Judge Zaidan once more was critical of this, and warned gardaí present in the court to disclose the evidence by the next date.
"I'm tired of taking the flack (for this)," the judge added.
In the third and final case, when the issue was brought up once again, Judge Zaidan remarked: "It's because of (situations like) this that my (court) lists are bulging."
