ACCUSATION

Gardaí claimed that a Newbridge man allegedly hid €1,000 worth of suspected cocaine in his underwear.

The allegation, which was heard in Naas District Court on Thursday, December 15, relates to Reese O' Neill-Buckley, with an address listed as 23 White Oaks Green in Newbridge.

The 23-year-old stood accused of hiding the suspected drugs in his underwear at Lakeside Park in Newbridge on April 3, 2021.

Judge Desmond Zaidan said that he would refuse jurisdiction, due to the serious nature of the allegation.

He added that he was surprised that the defendant was charged with Section 3 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, 1977, which deals with possession of drugs for personal use, and not Section 15, which deals with the sale and supply of drugs.

As the accused did not appear in the courthouse on the date in question without providing a valid reason for his absence, a bench warrant was issued by gardaí against him.
