There are “significant infrastructural issues” in a residential area in Sallins.

And this is delaying the request for the Willouise area to be taken in charge by Kildare County Council, it's been claimed.

Cllr Bill Clear asked about the items outstanding a Naas Municipal District meeting, the costs involved and how long it will take to have it taken in charge.

KCC official Jonathan Hennessy reported a number of issues need to be resolved. He added these include retaining walls, footpaths, public lighting, storm water and road surfacing.

He added KCC will undertake a full audit of the estate “once staff resources allow and develop a costed remediation plan.”

He said it is not possible to put a high-level cost on the required works until such an audit has been undertaken.
