Told to stay out of the county

A man who attended Millicent Golf Club, near Clane, and allegedly ate a meal there but left without paying appeared before Naas District Court.

Aged in his 30s, the man is not being identified because he came before the court on an allegation of breaching protection order, granted under family law legislation.

He was detained on an allegation of being threatening and abusive at Abbeylands, Clane, on September 2 and he was detained shortly after 9.30pm and taken to Naas garda station.

Garda Richard Oxley said he had also had possession of a hammer on September 2 and was involved in a fight with another male to whom he is related.

The court was told the gardaí were called to an incident which saw two males fighting near a filling station.

It was alleged that on April 3, 2024 he left the golf club having attended with his wife and a child.

He used a debit card to try and pay the €94 owed for the meal but the card was denied. He said he would return to pay but he did not.

The defendant was granted bail subject to conditions and the case was adjourned to January 21.

He is to remain sober and maintain contact with the gardaí by mobile phone.

He must also reside at a given address in Coolock, observe a curfew between 9pm and 6am and stay out of County Kildare except for court appearances.

He  is also to sign on at a garda station three times a week.
