Gardaí have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with the murder of Paul Gallagher that happened in July 2014 in a rural area of Meath.

The man was questioned at Navan Garda Station yesterday and is due to appear before a sitting Meath District Court this morning charged in connection with the murder of Mr Gallagher.

Mr Gallagher was facing into a possible minimum sentence of 10 years in prison at the time of his death on July 30 2014 for the possession of vast quantities of heroin, cocaine and cannabis, but he was murdered before his scheduled trial date in December of that year.

Mr Gallagher's body was discovered by a farmer at Ballymacan, Collon, Co Meath, almost three years ago, and it was believed at the time that he may have been doublecrossed by some of his associates.
