Mondello Park confirm Lights Fest is cancelled following public concerns

An event organised to take place in Mondello Park in August has been cancelled following a public backlash against it.

A Lights Fest was due to take place at the racing venue near Caragh on August 11, but a number of people raised concerns over the safety of the event and the effects that it would have on the environment.

The Lights Fest is run by an outside company that were planning to carry out the event in Mondello Park.

The event sees a number of fire lanterns being released into the air by attendees, while there is also live music on the night. Concerns were raised over the impact that the fire lanterns may have on the environment and the potential risk it could cause to the surrounding area.

Mondello Park confirmed on Twitter this afternoon that the Lights Fest will not be taking place at their venue.
