Naas dominate to reach Leinster Intermediate Camogie Championship semi's
Naas reached the AIB Leinster Intermediate Club Championship semi-finals with a 2-21 to 0-9 win over Ballinteer
Naas can now look forward to a Leinster Camogie semi-final, after defeating Ballinteer St. John’s on home soil on a bright Sunday afternoon.
Rebecca McDermott pointed for the Kildare outfit after 20 seconds, while Eleanor Aherne provided the response for Ballinteer. Aoife Stynes was next to point for Naas before the Kildare champions proceeded to claim complete control of the game.
Rebecca McDermott and Sophie Hazard both converted brace of points, while Allie McGrath and Roise Hennessy also pointed to leave the Kildare champions seven clear ahead of the second quarter.
Eleanor Aherne and Emily Adderley hit back for Ballinteer, but in the 20th minute, Orlaith Dempsey found Sara Carroll, who powerfully sent the sliotar flying past Juliet Wall for Naas.
FROM RANGE
Rebecca Bowden pointed from range for Ballinteer two minutes later, while Emily Adderley finished as the other scorer in the first-half for the visitors. Sophie Hazard, Aoife Stynes and Rebecca McDermott gave Naas a 1-11 to 0-5 interval lead.
Jenny-Grace Andrews pointed for a battling capital side on 34 minutes, and Emily Adderley was the other scorer in the half, but Naas would own the last 25 minutes. Rebecca McDermott did the bulk of the scoring for the hosts, while Aoife McDermott, Allie McGrath and Sara Carroll also got on the scoresheet for the flying Kildare Champions.
The domination was complete two minutes into added-time, when after Juliet Wall batted out a high ball into the Ballinteer box, late substitute Ciara Ryan collected the ball to force in Naas’s second goal. The Kildare champions’ place in Leinster’s final four is assured.
