New Cafe & Bistro - going from strength to strength in Kildare Town!
A brand new Cafe & Bistro is the best kept secret in Kildare Town after opening its doors just before Christmas.
Strong's Cafe & Bistro has a fantastic location in a 19th Century building on the corner of Market Square - beside the entrance to the famous St Brigid's Cathedral and the Kildare Round Tower.
The premises is beautifully designed with a tasteful decor which lends itself to a very charming ambience for customers.
Chef
The resident Chef Alex Strong previously worked in the award-winning Ballymore Inn in Ballymore Eustace as well as other Michelin-starred restaurants.
Alex's mum Noreen is in charge of Front of House and makes customers feel immediately at home and appreciated for their custom.
Noreen, who has an experienced business background, says the eatery caters for everybody in its 28-seat restaurant.
Family
Noreen's son is the singer Andrew Strong - star of the Oscar-nominated hit 1990s movie, The Commitments, and her husband Rob is also a well-known singer in his own right. The family has very strong links with Co Kildare as they previously lived in Naas and are now residing in Moone.
Menus
The extensive Menus offer a mouth-watering range of classic and unique dishes with a dash of culinary flair from Alex in the kitchen.
Sweet Potato and Red Lentil Fritters
Vegetarian and Vegan tastes are also adequately catered for.
An instant favourite of many customers is the Buckwheat Pancakes for Breakfast or the Eggs Benedict with Toasted English Muffins.
For a delicious hot dish, strongly recommended is the Char Grilled Hereford Beef Burger or the Wild Mushroom and Truffle Pizza. Indeed, all Pizza are homemade in pizza ovens on the premises.
Homemade Strawberry Meringue
For those with a sweet tooth among us, stand-out options are the Homemade Lemon Drizzle Cake and the Carrot Cake with Fresh Cream.
Lunch
For my own Lunch choice, I went for the Strong's Toasted Special - Honey Baked Ham and Cheddar Cheese, Vine Tomato, Red Onion and House Relish.
This gourmet speciality was wonderfully tasty and alive with fresh flavours.
My dining companion opted for the Healthy Super Salad Bowl which comprised Mixed Leaves, Falafel Balls, Spiced Chickpea Hummus, Pickled Vegetables, Avocado, Turmeric and Tahini Dressing.
The dish, which came served with Warm Flat breads, was a very satisfying feast while also very nutritious.
The service in Strong's Cafe & Bistro was fast and efficient by very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
We will certainly be returning to sample other delights from the Menus and telling all our friends to check it out!

Summer Evenings
Strong's Cafe & Bistro is planning to open later from May onwards to attract evening diners with a specially-designed 3-Course Menu.
Themed events will also focus on wine and gin tasting sessions.
Strong's Cafe & Bistro is expecting a busy Spring and Summer with the arrival of tourists to visit the adjacent St Brigid's Cathedral and the Round Tower.
Also bringing footfall will be the opening of the redeveloped Curragh Racecourse and the always popular Kildare Village shopping outlet.
Sunday Opening
Strong's Cafe & Bistro is open on Sundays and is ideal venue for a family meal out.
