New proposals for bye-laws in a Co Kildare town

Co Kildare business owners are being urged to view proposed parking bye-laws for the town.
Local Fianna Fail TD, Frank O’Rourke, has urged Kilcock businesses and residents to view the proposed parking bye-laws for the town and make submissions to ensure that their views are captured in the public consultation process.
Deputy O’Rourke has welcomed the inclusion of the proposed new Park and Ride facility in the public consultation process.
He said: “Following on from the decision to locate the new park and ride for Bus and Rail Commuters in Kilcock adjacent to Lidl, I welcome its inclusion in this public consultation process. With other stakeholders, I worked hard to secure this park and ride facility and we need to capture it in the parking by-laws for the town.”
Deputy O'Rourke said: “Having a sensible and balanced approach to car parking charges is essential to ensure that we encourage people to visit and shop in our town centres, while still not facilitate “car park squatters”, who effectively hinder town centre trade."
He said: “Now, Kilcock have an opportunity to have their say, both in relation to Car Parking Policy in the town centre, and also in relation to the new Park and Ride Facility.”
The Deputy said:“It is important that parking does not cause obstruction for other motorists, impede businesses or impinge on the safety of pedestrians, and also it should encourage the use of public transport and vibrancy in our town centres.” stated Deputy O'Rourke after meeting businesses in Kilcock.
He said: “The proposed Kilcock parking bye-laws can be inspected at: Kildare County Council, office in Áras Chill Dara, Naas, or at Kilcock Library, Kilcock, during normal opening hours. The display period is from 21st of August to 25th of September next. ”
“Representations on the draft parking bye-laws may be made in writing to the Senior Executive Officer, Transportation Department at Kildare County Council, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co. Kildare or by email to [email protected] from 21st of August to before 12 noon on 17th of October next." concluded Deputy O'Rourke.
